The Main Three Entrance Gate Categories

People do not need to be coming to your house to take note of the kind of gate that is placed at the entrance. It is true that the people who intend to come through the gate are the ones who will probably pay the most attention to the kind of entrance gate you have and the style it has; however, even people just driving by do look and it would not hurt to give them something good to look at.

Even though the main purpose of an entrance gate is to provide or limit access to a certain property, entrance gates are designed in various ways to provide for various other uses. Over the years, entrance gates have become more stylish and can now be made out of virtually anything strong enough to stand as a gate.

Wrought iron is a strong material which can also be used to make entrance gates. A wrought iron gate can be made into many different designs which will add style and visual appeal to the gate. They can also be painted to the desires of the home owner. Although notably more expensive than wood, iron does not need as much maintenance as a wooden entrance gate.

A wooden entrance gate is usually a good choice for a home owner who is fussy about matching the gate colour with the colour of the house because wood is relatively easy to paint and the staining lasts for a year or two. The unfortunate part about wooden entrance gates is that it requires very specific and periodical care. If, for example, the gate is not treated to prevent termite damage, it will fall victim to termites and your house will have a not-so-nice-looking entrance gate.

A better alternative is the vinyl entrance gate which has almost the same costs associated with a wooden entrance gate, only vinyl entrance gates are not as high maintenance as wooden gates. Since paint cannot stick to vinyl, and vinyl is not at all susceptible to the attack of termites, one can enjoy peace of mind with such an entrance gate. The only thing to note is that in order to change anything about this type of entrance gate, one has to change the whole gate and that will be costly.
