Choosing a garage door
A garage door is the largest moving part of most homes, and it is often the easiest way in. The right door depends on the opening, the space inside the garage and how you use it.
- Sectional doors run up and back along the ceiling. They suit most garages and short driveways and are the best choice for automation.
- Roll-up doors coil above the opening and need very little headroom inside.
- Tip-up (single panel) doors are usually the most economical, but they swing out over the driveway and need room to do so.
Doors come in steel, aluminium and wood, in a range of colours and finishes, so they can match the look of the house as well as secure it.
Garage door motors
An automated door is more convenient and more secure: you stay in the car until the door has closed behind you. We supply and fit motors sized to the door, with a backup battery for load shedding, and we program remotes.
Repairs and servicing
- Broken springs and cables
- Worn rollers, hinges and tracks
- Doors that stick, jerk or close unevenly
- Motors that hum but do not move, or reverse for no reason
- Remotes that have stopped working or need adding
A door that is serviced before it fails is cheaper to keep running, and safer. A spring that breaks under tension can do real damage.
A door that jerks, sticks or only opens by hand is usually telling you a spring, cable or motor needs attention before it fails completely. Tell us the make and what it is doing, and we will quote for the repair or a new door in writing.
