The gardens: camera systems for long perimeters shaded by mature trees
The Gardens is about 5 km south-east of Sandton City. In The Gardens, most properties are established homes with long boundary walls facing tree-lined streets like Hathorn Avenue or Osborn Road. These mature trees, both on the pavement and inside the garden, create deep shadows and potential blind spots that can conceal movement. The main challenge is securing the full length of the perimeter, especially on properties near busier routes like Atholl Oaklands Road, where constant passing traffic provides cover.
Because of the extensive tree cover, we position cameras to look along the walls from the corners of the house, rather than just pointing them outwards where branches will block the view over time. This creates overlapping fields of vision covering the entire perimeter. For the many older properties here, we can often upgrade existing analogue cameras to high-definition systems by reusing the sound cabling, which provides a much clearer picture without having to re-cable the whole house.
If you have recently bought a home in The Gardens that came with cameras, the most important first step is to change the system's passwords. The previous owners could still have access on their phones, viewing your property without your knowledge. Tyson can do a full system assessment, reset the administrator passwords to give you sole control, and then set up and test remote viewing on your family's phones before we leave.
Everything we install and repair, and how a job runs from first call to handover, is on our CCTV cameras page.
Questions from The Gardens
The house I bought has cameras, but I don't have the password. Can you help?
Yes. In most cases, we can reset the recorder's main password on-site. This gives you full control and lets us remove any old user accounts, like the previous owner's, before setting up secure access on your own phone.
Will waving tree branches constantly trigger my camera alerts?
We can prevent this by setting up motion detection zones. This tells the system to ignore movement from trees and focus only on specific areas, like the ground along your boundary wall or your driveway.
If something on your CCTV camera setup in The Gardens is not working as it should, the quickest fix starts with a call. We will ask a few questions, book a visit and quote in writing before any work starts.
