Maintaining long perimeters in The Woodlands' office parks and estates
Electric fences in The Woodlands typically enclose large-scale properties like office parks and secure residential estates. These long perimeters run along high walls, often facing busy roads such as Woodlands Drive or Woodmead Drive. The primary challenge is making sure consistent, reliable detection along these extensive boundaries, which are overseen by professional facilities managers or body corporates, especially after hours when the properties are quiet.
Our approach in The Woodlands is to make sure long fences are correctly zoned. This allows on-site security to identify the exact location of a fault quickly, rather than searching the entire perimeter. We also prioritise solid energiser and battery backup systems, as uninterrupted operation is important for commercial sites. We check that gate contacts are reliable and that the fence integrates correctly with existing security protocols.
For properties managed by a body corporate, the Electric Fence System Certificate covers the entire perimeter. It is usually requested when a property or unit is sold. Any installation after 1 October 2012, or major alteration since, requires a new certificate to be issued to the body corporate. As a registered electric fence installer with the Department of Employment and Labour, Tyson can conduct the inspection and issue the certificate. Proof of registration is available on request.

Questions from Woodlands
Our office park's fence is several kilometres long. How do you handle fault-finding?
We first identify which zone is reporting the fault. By focusing on that specific section of the perimeter, we can trace the problem, whether it's vegetation, a faulty insulator, or a broken wire, far more efficiently and provide a precise report to the facilities manager.
The certificate for our estate's perimeter fence is held by the body corporate. What happens when a unit is sold?
The seller's agent simply needs to request a copy of the valid certificate from the managing agent or trustees. A new certificate is only required for the entire perimeter if the fence has been altered since the last one was issued.
