Separating visitor calls from resident access at Witkoppen’s shared entrances
Witkoppen is about 12 km north-west of Sandton City. At Witkoppen’s cluster complexes and security estates, one entrance may serve many residents, while nearby freestanding homes have their own driveway and pedestrian gates. At a shared gate, visitors need to reach the correct unit without being given the same access method used by residents.
For a Witkoppen complex, we would use a GSM or video intercom for visitor calls and separate tags, PIN codes or enrolled readers for regular users. The intercom can release the vehicle gate or an electric lock on the pedestrian gate. At a freestanding home, we first check whether cabling to the house is practical and whether mobile signal at the gate makes GSM the better option.
Witkoppen trustees and managing agents need a clear process for residents, domestic workers and contractors. Each person should have an identifiable credential that can be removed without affecting everyone else. Scheduled or temporary access suits regular services and building work. We also agree who may enrol users, view access records and remove credentials when a resident moves out.
Everything we install and repair, and how a job runs from first call to handover, is on our intercoms and access control page.
Questions from Witkoppen
Can visitors call different Witkoppen units from one entrance panel?
Yes. A suitable GSM or video intercom can direct calls to the relevant residents. We check the number of units, mobile signal, power and existing gate equipment before specifying it.
How do trustees remove access when a resident leaves?
We can delete that resident’s tags, codes or enrolled credentials individually. If old remotes were never recorded, we can clear the receiver and register only those the trustees approve.
Tell us what you have in Witkoppen now and what is going wrong, and we will tell you plainly whether it needs a repair, an upgrade or a new intercom system, then put the quote in writing.
