Updating intercoms and access for Dunsevern's varied properties
Dunsevern presents two different gate scenarios. A freestanding home on a road like Northfield Avenue has its own gate, often set far back from the main house. A unit in a complex, such as Royal View, relies on a single, shared entrance for all residents and visitors. This means access needs to be managed differently from property to property.
For a house with a long driveway, we recommend a video intercom so you can see who is calling before opening. If established gardens make new cabling difficult, an intercom that uses the mobile network to call your phone is a practical alternative. At a complex gate, we install a single solid system that allows each resident to screen their own visitors, separate from the access control used by residents themselves.
The main challenge in Dunsevern is managing who has access over time. For homeowners, this means giving staff or service providers codes or tags that can be deleted, instead of remotes that are hard to get back. For trustees in a complex, it's about having a system where they can easily remove residents who move out, making sure the access list is always current.
Everything we install and repair, and how a job runs from first call to handover, is on our intercoms and access control page.
Questions from Dunsevern
Our house is set far back from the road with large trees. Can we still get a video intercom?
Yes. If new cabling is impractical because of the garden or distance, we can install an intercom that uses the mobile network to call your registered phones. This lets you speak to visitors and open the gate from your phone.
As a trustee, how can I be sure former residents can't access our complex anymore?
We recommend systems that use tags, codes, or fingerprints instead of remotes. When a resident leaves, their specific tag or code can be deleted from the system, instantly revoking their access without affecting anyone else.
