Electric fences on Craighall Park's long, tree-lined boundary walls
Craighall Park is about 4 km south-west of Sandton City. Craighall Park fences run along long, decades-old boundary walls around large stands, with big trees and creepers on both sides, and some properties back on to Delta Park or the Braamfontein Spruit, where the public walks past the wall. Trees are the most common reason a fence here trips at night or after rain, and the walls have often cracked or been raised since the fence went up, which loosens brackets and lets strands sag.
We clear the line, move strands or fit offset brackets where branches overhang, and check the fixings and the earth spikes as well as the energiser. On walls that face the park or the spruit we make sure the yellow warning signs are in place at the right spacing, because those are the sections most often tested and among the first an inspection looks at.
Most sales here are freestanding houses, so the seller arranges the electric fence certificate, and the bank will usually ask for it before transfer. A fence put up before 1 October 2012 still needs one, because the change of ownership is what calls for it. Book the inspection when you list: we tell you on the day what fails, repair it and issue the certificate once the fence complies. Tyson is a registered electric fence installer with the Department of Employment and Labour; proof of registration is available on request.
Everything we install and repair, and how a job runs from first call to handover, is on our electric fencing page.
Questions from Craighall Park
Our fence went up before 2012. Does it still need a certificate when we sell?
Yes. Any change of ownership after 1 October 2012 needs one, whatever the age of the fence. The certificate does not expire, so if one was issued and the fence has not been extended or given a new energiser since, ask your conveyancer whether it can be used.
Branches keep setting off our fence. Do the trees have to go?
Usually not. We clear what touches the strands now, reposition strands or fit offset brackets where that helps, and tell you which branches to keep trimmed.
If something on your electric fence setup in Craighall Park is not working as it should, the quickest fix starts with a call. We will ask a few questions, book a visit and quote in writing before any work starts.
