CCTV Technology

Whether you own a factory, a super market, or an office, a security system will be helpful as a protection against theft or damage to your goods or equipment. In a super market or convenience store a CCTV camera can be placed over the till to catch any unscrupulous behaviour by staff members, or to monitor for a potential robbery.

A security camera placed in a factory will help you to identify why your equipment or machines keep breaking down – perhaps the breakdowns are due staff members not operating the equipment properly, or maybe your equipment has been vandalised. Sometimes CCTV equipment can be used to monitor processes in a factory which are too dangerous for a human to be present. In the end, a CCTV security system provides you with that extra information you need in order to identify problem areas in your business – whether they be due to criminal activity, incompetence by staff members, or for other reasons.

Video surveillance has grown over the past ten years, with the associated technology becoming more advanced as time goes by. Security camera systems started off with analogue technology, which performed the job it was supposed to, but with some limitations. Camera technology has exploded recently with IP cameras becoming the flavour of the day. Wireless technology has also entered the CCTV arena, making the installation of a CCTV security system far quicker and easier. Included with the advancement of camera technology is an advancement of the technology used to store camera footage.

DVR security systems have now become standard with any digital camera system, and even in some instances a DVR device isn’t necessary anymore. You can now use your own PC to store and manage video surveillance, as long as you have the appropriate software installed.

Over the years CCTV technology has come a long way, making installation, management and maintenance of a CCTV system much quicker and easier. Also, the variety of CCTV products available means that a CCTV system can be adapted to suit most business and home environments.
