Securing Atholl Gardens' modern complexes and shared perimeters
Atholl Gardens is right on Sandton's doorstep. Security in Atholl Gardens means protecting modern, high-density properties like townhouses and apartment complexes. These developments often feature long, shared boundary walls, sometimes running for hundreds of metres along busy roads like Grayston Drive and Katherine Street. With the area's lush greenery and proximity to parks like Innesfree Park, vegetation overgrowth is a common cause of fence alarms, while the long perimeters can be difficult to patrol effectively when a fault occurs.
For these extended perimeters, our first step is to make sure the fence is split into multiple, clearly marked zones. This allows security to pinpoint a fault to a specific section, rather than having to check the entire boundary of an estate like Balgowan Estate. We also check that warning signs are correctly spaced along any sections facing public areas, and that the earthing system is effective enough for the full length of the fence.
When a unit is sold in an Atholl Gardens complex, the electric fence certificate is issued to the body corporate for the entire perimeter, so it is not the seller's to arrange. Estate agents should request a copy from the managing agent. A certificate is asked for on any change of ownership after 1 October 2012. If the complex's fence has been altered or lacks a valid certificate, the body corporate will need a new one. Tyson is registered with the Department of Employment and Labour as an installer and can issue the certificate; proof of registration is available on request.
Everything we install and repair, and how a job runs from first call to handover, is on our electric fencing page.
Questions from Atholl Gardens
Our complex wall is very long. How do you find a fault quickly?
A long perimeter should be divided into smaller zones, each reporting separately to the energiser. When a fault occurs, the energiser shows which zone is affected, so your security team only has to patrol that specific section of the wall to find the problem.
The trees inside our complex are causing fence problems. Is that our responsibility?
Yes, vegetation growing from inside the property is the body corporate's responsibility. We can clear the fence line and advise on which trees and creepers need a regular trim to prevent them from causing false alarms, especially after rain or wind.
