Wooden Fencing

Fences are used for business locations as well as residential, and are installed for many reasons.  They can be used for safety, to make areas more private, to act as a perimeter around an area, to prevent entry of unwanted parties, and to prevent exist of animals or children.  Some fences are installed purely for decorative purposes or as a shield against wind or sun.  Whatever the function of the fence, it is important to remember that the aesthetic quality of the property should not be compromised by the appearance of the fence.  Wooden fencing is a great solution as it is attractive, is easy to set up, reasonable priced, and can be installed in many styles, colours and designs, and is still a viable fence for all the above purposes.

Wooden fences are easy to set up and are generally easy to maintain.  They can be set up in one or a combination of designs, and do not cost the earth.  The wood which is used for fencing is usually pre-treated to guard against damp, rot, termites, borer and fungi.  Some types of wood even have their own protection in the wood oils.

There are a lot of different designs for wooden fences.  These will include:

Picket fences are very simple and basically consist of vertical wooden stakes running parallel to each other.  They are similar to palisade but generally speaking a lot lower, and act more as a boundary demarcation than a security measure.  Pickets are traditionally painted white, and have many romantic and suburban connotations to it.

Modern wood fencing is a relatively new type of fence which allows entrance to the property but also provides privacy and security.  These fences are fairly tall, and the wood stakes sit flush against each other which provides no visibility through the fence.
Vintage fences can be put together with old or worn wood and old style wood nails, and can create a good effect with old wrought iron gates.

Wooden security fences will ensure that unwanted parties are kept out and that children and pets are kept in.  These fences are normally high and care must be taken to ensure that they conform to the building requirements of the area.
