Wall Fencing

Walls are quite often used to fulfill the role of a fence, and consist of a solid wall built from brick and mortar, or in some cases cement.  They are built for various reasons – to provide safety, to make an area more private, to keep pets in the yard, to prevent children from getting out, to keep intruders away, to block traffic or other noises, to provide a perimeter boundary, and for decoration and landscaping.

Solid walls can last a lifetime if built well, and can be constructed and finished in a lot of different colours, textures and patterns.  Traditionally, clay bricks and mortar were used for these walls, but the bricks do become sensitive to moisture after a while, and nowadays concrete bricks are more popular as they are resistant to water and weather proof.  Concrete bricks have the strength and style of a solid wall, but are more resilient outside.

There are also other forms of wall fencing, which basically consist of semi-solid walls which are made of concrete and pre-cast into panels off site.  They are then installed piece by piece on site.  They are cheaper than building a wall, are very light and take less time to install, and do not need specialist equipment and experts for installation.  They, look stylish, and are resistant to weather and water.  They also provide good shelter and wind breakers.

They do not require skilled labour such as a brick layer for installation and can be pained in just about any finish or colour required.  The interior of the precast walls are strengthened with steel grids and are very strong.  They provide a great barrier for sound, and can be custom made to fit around awkward areas and surface types.  The precast panels also have internal indentations which will permit the installation of necessary electric wires and cables, such as those needed for alarm systems and other security measures or external lights.

A new addition to wall fencing is plastic fencing, which is made of precast panels made of heavy duty plastic rather than concrete.  These are just as strong as concrete, but is a lot lighter and easier to installed, and have all the benefits of concrete solid fencing.
