CCTV Cameras Not Working At Explosion Sites

cctv cameraThe city of Pune has been hit by what almost looks like a terrorist attack.  A series of bomb blasts have occurred in the city and police are now trying to follow up leads and clues via the CCTV cameras installed at various locations.  However, this is proving to be a great frustration to investigators as it now seems that some of these CCTV systems are not even working and haven’t been working for some time.

Some anonymous sources have confirmed that some of the CCTV camera systems are installed at the McDonald’s restaurant in the area, the Bal Gandharva square and at Dena Bank.  It’s been reported by these sources that most of these security cameras were out of order at the time of the blasts and are in fact still out of order.

Police have found that the explosives used in the attacks were attached to bicycles that were recently purchased, most likely by the attackers themselves.  They are now following leads and trying to find the retailer that sold these bikes.  It has been reported that a substance that looks almost like glue and that is black in colour was used together with ammonium nitrate was present in the concentration of the explosives.

Finding the exact concentration of ingredients used in the explosives could assist in finding the criminals who are responsible for the blasts.  Lately, groups of people who participate in terror attacks, have been using what is called “signature bombs”.  This means that each of these terror gangs use their own unique substances when creating explosive devices.  It also seems that the explosives used in the Pune attacks could have been detonated via timers that are set to go off at a predetermined time.

Only one person was injured by the blasts that shook the city.  Dayanand Patil was in the Bal Ganharva square at the time of the incident and only sustained minor injuries.  Even though he was in the vicinity of the blasts and the explosives seemed to have come from a bag belonging to him, the police have confirmed that he is not a suspect at this moment.  Mr. Patil is being treated in hospital and should be released soon.
