Alarms are installed for the protection of people and their assets. The alarm business is very large and can be used for anything of a security purpose. Alarm systems are designed to alert the owner when an intruder is trying to burglarise them. An alarm can be installed in a private home, a company and a car. There are some very big companies, for example, Chubb, that will install your alarm system and then for a specified monetary fee every month will be the ones to respond if someone trips the alarm. They also often call the police on your behalf.
A CCTV system is an alarms system, but this alarm system uses cameras placed often at doorways or in front of the asset that is important. These CCTV cameras are usually then all connected to a central control room where a guard will watch them.
Alarms can also be used to alert someone when there is a fire or gas leak. This can have a private or business use. These types of alarms are placed where the fire is most likely happen, for example, the stove or fireplace. A gas alarm is usually placed where the gas bottle is kept or where the gas enters the stove.
