Alarms


Alarms are a vital part of modern life. They are ubiquitous and there are almost no premises today without some sort of alarm system to keep it secure. Alarm systems generally form part of a complete security solution, a complete security solution can and often includes cameras, fences and alarms.

Alarms and alarm systems have been around for decades in one form or another. The earliest alarms relied on human operation and basically consisted of a human raising the alarm mechanically, usually achieved by winding or turning a handle. These early alarms were also commonly known as klaxons.

Alarms, Alarm Systems And Applications

There are many different reasons to have an alarm installed. There are also just as many application situations and application criteria. Most people think of alarms as security devices for homes and businesses relating to the prevention or combating of crime and crime syndicates. This is true however there are also many other different scenarios and applications that require one or another type of alarm system or alarm installation.

Not all alarm installations are designed specifically to deter or prevent crime or criminal activities in general. There are also various alarm systems that are designed without any consideration given to police or anti-crime applications. There are alarms that are designed to be used as early warning systems against the dangers of fires.

There are many scenarios that require the installation of fire alarms or systems that detect and alert personnel to the outbreak of a fire. This is especially important in high risk situations or environments such as ships and oil rigs and so on.

Other Applications Of Alarms

There are some applications that require the installation of alarm systems that most people do not even think of or consider when they think of the many uses for alarms and alarm systems. We have thus far mentioned crime prevention and fire but there are other scenarios as well to consider.

Early warning systems are vital in airplanes to warn pilots of such factors as collision, either with another plane or with the ground or similar feature or object. Additionally are systems that warn of smoke or chemical contamination and so on.
