Everyone Has Gates

Gates are not just those things in front of your home and business, but they are in fact any barrier that people erect to safe guard their possessions and emotions. Gates that protect the personal items we treasure are very necessary for the peace of mind of most people.

The gates in front of your home look after your family, which should be very precious to you and those self-same gates also keep your largest investment, to date, safe from intruders. People have come up with all kinds of novel ways to stop gates from seeming ugly and imposing. The design that people have come up with for their gates are sometimes quite beautiful and we forget that the gates are there to keep people safe from the baser instincts of others and that is not a pretty thought.

People have come up with gates that electrify at a hostile touch and light up as soon as someone approaches. Most middle class and upper burbs now come with manned security gates, twenty fours a day. This level of paranoia is very evident when one examines the gates that people are building around themselves, in terms of personality.

People erect these gates which take the form of various personality facades that people have decide to necessary to survive in this world. They will have the work gate in place as soon as they step into the office. These gates will keep colleagues whom, people often spend more time with than their spouses; at arm’s length because society has taught everyone that these gates are essential. And that if you do not erect these gates then everyone will invade your life and intrude on your personal thoughts.

The saddest thing of all is the fact that people do not drop the gates when they get home, to the space that they are sharing with the people they love most of all, instead they just put up new gates, designed to keep your loved ones out. People convince themselves that the family gates are necessary to protect the family and that one’s family does not need to know just how fragile you are.
