What Is A Security

A security is a very broad term and is used to refer to a number of different forms of securities which can and do relate to a number of different industries, sectors and interests.

In financial terms a security generally refers to a contract or guarantee that promises certain conditions against money borrowed. A security can also be viewed as an investment such as stocks or bonds, investment contracts, oil or gas interests and so on. A security is thus viewed as a interested party investing something of value, most commonly money, into a venture or public interest. The party or investor expects a certain return on this investment, guaranteed as a security.

It is also quite possible and completely reasonable to view a security as a policy. For example, a security can be realized as an insurance policy such as a life insurance policy or as a disability insurance policy. A disability insurance policy could most definitely be viewed as a security against the loss of earnings through injury or event that disables ones ability to work.

Security Industries

Security industries are probably the most commonly recognised definition of what is a security. Almost every single person in the world is affected by security related issues, from normal every day domestic security demands which generally take the shape of security alarm  installations, security camera monitoring systems and armed response and patrol services, through to much bigger and more elaborate commercial and industrial security applications.

Security in all of its many forms is the cornerstone of human existence, inn fact, the more progress we make as a society and as a people, the more crucial security becomes. Security applies to our financial well being, domestic security, border security and our general peace of mind. Security is probably one of the single biggest industries in the world today and is in addition also a critical, indispensible industry in so far as many other non related industries depend on it for their continuing success. Without security many industries would not be able to function.
