New Cell Technology

Cell phone technology is so advanced these days you can control irrigation on your farm, open the gate at home, be able to view security cameras at home using spot, see where your car travels, transfer money to another bank account from yours. All the functions mentioned cab done from a cell phone or maybe we would rather call them smartphones.

Firstly let us discuss the irrigation function, using GSM technology if you have hi-tech irrigation equipment on your farm and you are far away from you can actually set the irrigation systems to irrigate at certain times and stop at certain times. This allows you complete control over your systems as long they are linked to a computer which receives commands from your cellular phone.

Secondly we will discuss opening a gate at home, for those people who live in residential estates the body corporates in most of these complexes have installed intercom systems that dial your phone number when your unit number is buzzed by your visitor. Using DTMF tones from your cell’s keypad you can actually command the intercom system from a remote area to open an electronically powered gate motor for maximum convenience.

Thirdly we are going to discuss SPOT which is a security idea started and launched by one of South Africa’s leading cellular networks. How it works is that it is linked to your home security system which has to have CCTV, once the motion sensors senses movement the system sends a message to your cell phone and then from that point you can actually view from your cell phone’s screen exactly what is happening on your residence.

Lastly we have car track, private fleet owners and business fleet owners always want to monitor their interests in terms of their movable assets, like cars and trucks. Today there are car track systems which are linked to your cellular and actually track, monitor and report back various factors like where your car drove to, what speed it is going, the type of braking the driver uses gentle or harsh as well as many other useful pieces of information that can allow for better fleet management.
